Super Bowl in Las Vegas

At the tail end of last week, instead of resting up for Vegas, I was practicing for Vegas. I enjoyed great nights out in San Francisco Wed-Fri, including dinner at 1550 Hyde, seeing Teatro Zinzanni, and having cocktails at Bourbon & Branch. I flew into Vegas with Lisa and Stephanie on Saturday morning, only to get lunch and take a nap to prepare for the big night out.

We ended up switching our hotel at the last minute to the Hard Rock, and when we got there, we scored last minute tickets to see Carlos Santana in concert that night! He primarily played and members of his band did most of the singing, but it didn't detract from the music at all. It was a smallish venue and we were so excited to have things work out so well at the last minute for us.

Next up was a late night dinner around 11:30pm at Lavo at the Venetian. The lower level was a restaurant that played essentially club/party music, which contributed to tables chatting and people meeting each other. We met a group of guys from NYC and joined them after dinner at the Lavo club upstairs for VIP access and bottle service. Needless to say we were dancing until 4am! The music at Lavo was so good. I loved how the DJ switched up songs so often so you never got bored of a song partway through. A few of the guys in the group were very entertaining dancers too, so there were a lot of laughs (and photos! although not necessarily posted here... :)

On Sunday, needless to say we slept in well past noon, but we rallied and were ready for game time! We ditched the scene at the Hard Rock and went over to the Bellagio, a great decision. We ended up joining a group at a VIP booth in the Bellagio Sports Book for a great view of the game. We were all cheering for the Saints (the Winners!), even though we didn't get our bets in on time. Some of the guys we joined at the booth had high stakes on the game, so it was still fun to cheer for their bets!

Great view of the screens!

After the game, we wandering through some of the hotels on the strip, grabbed a quick dinner, and I was asleep by 10:30pm! Up at 4:45am this morning, we were off to the airport and back in my SF apartment by 9am. It was a whirlwind weekend, but full of fun and surprises. I can't wait to go back once the weather is a bit warmer! And Super Bowl in Vegas just might have to be an annual trip.....
